I'm so excited I finally get to share what I've been working on all week with you!
Without further ado....the crests and Harry Potter.
I had seen several different Harry Potter cookies on other blogs.
As a matter of fact, my Harry Potter guy and several of my design ideas came from The Decorated Cookie.
These were her cookies.
They are gorgeous and full of life.
These were mine.
Because I had borrowed other cookie ideas...like these from The Whimsy Cookie Co. , it was very important for me to complete a cookie adapted from a picture and not another cookier's design.
I had seen several cookiers print out an image of the crests on edible paper and attach them to cookies with icing, but I wanted to kick it up a notch and try to do them all out of royal icing.
I thought it would be neat to give you a little step by step to how I created those highly detailed crests.
From there you pretty much keep layering and layering. Make sure to give plenty of time between colors to allow them to set a little. This will help prevent bleeding colors.
My favorite part are the finishing touches.
Like taking plain gray icing.
And painting it silver.
I added many of the details with doo-das from my collection. These cookies had sanding sugar, luster dust, and food coloring markers.
That's a lot of clean up!
Tomorrow I'll give you a closer look at the details on the crest cookies and some of the other HP cookies.
One more photo before I go.
Two of my sisters and their friends getting ready to take the first bite out of the most time consuming cookies I've made so far!
Reports are they tasted just as delicous!
