My family and I are HUGE Penn State fans. My mom and most of my aunts and uncles are graduates of PSU. My grandparents held season tickets for over 30 years and my uncle continues to own season tickets.
I'm the oldest of five girls and currently sister #3, Ally, is a Junior. She's on the silk line in the Blue Band. This has only enhanced our love for this University.
Typically on any home Saturday in the fall you'll find some member of my family in Happy Valley. We made a promise to Ally three years ago, that as many of us as possible would always attend the first game. So far, we've managed to keep that promise.
I was excited my husband was finally able to make it up for the first game. In years past he's had to work.
Naturally, I had to make some Penn State cookies.
Some of the blue shades are a little off, as I initially had these cookies made for an entirely different use. I was going to take some to my grandmother the previous weekend, but Hurricane Irene had different ideas about my east coast travels. So....I had extra cookies leftover and icing left from my Longwood Cookies.
I tried this techniqe free hand, by just looking at a picture on my phone. It's the wet on wet technique. If you look at the picture above, it's suppose to look like my shirt.
For years and years, Penn State had a five toed paw print. The original 4 toed paw print was copyrighted to Clemson. Over the years, the paw print has seen anywhere from 3-5 toes depending on the design.
I went with five toes.
If you've been to a Penn State game you know the chant.
We Are! Penn State!
Thank You! You're Welcome!
Naturally, I had to make one for my sister.
I used to have a sweatshirt like this.
Welcome to Happy Valley.
My beautiful sister doing her Flag thing!!!
Despite our loss against Alabama today, my blood still bleeds Blue & White.
