Once upon a time, I took gymnastics classes.
It was in this HUGE building and was called Life Gymnastics.
And by HUGE, I mean...it was in my 6 year old mind. In reality, it was a building in a strip mall.
But I loved it.
We did cartwheels and flips and backhand springs.
Okay, okay...the other kids did backhand springs...not me.
I was never a fan of the balance beam, but I did love the uneven bars.
The very, very best thing about Life Gymnastics was it's huge foam pit. You could practice whatever move you wanted or even spring from the vault....without the fear of getting hurt. Right into a pit of big foam blocks.
Of course, 'swimming' your way out totally sucked.
And if you were lucky enough like I was, your parents let you have a birthday party there.
My 6th birthday party was there. Wanna know what made it even more awesome???
It was New Kids on the Block Themed.
Joey and Jonathan (in doll form, of course) sat on my cake.
Who's got the Right Stuff?
It was wonderful and glorious and I'm pretty sure I haven't done a cartwheel since then.
Although, I did prove this past Christmas that I can still do a pretty mean headstand.
But that's another story.
My 9 year old cousin is in a Level 4 gymnastics class, which sounds really serious to me.
Afterall, She does have an official uniform.
They have a state meet this weekend and these cookies are for her team.
I wrote in pink just for my cousin. She loves, loves, loves pink.
Good luck Sammie!!!!!!
Oh and just in case you're wondering (which I know you totally are), I did finally (20 years later) get to see my loves on stage. Twice.
Bet you didn't know I could make gymnastics and New Kids on the Block tie together, huh?
Silly you, I can make just about anything tie to NKOTB.
