I've never really been to New England.
I visited my brother-in-law once while he lived in Norwalk, Connecticut. We drove around the town, ate breakfast at a quaint little diner, but that was about it.
One of the main things on my bucket list is to take a train ride through New England in the fall.
And to see lighthouses in Maine.
And visit Boston and even go to Fenway...eventhough I'm a Yankees fan.
Oh wait...there's Salem, too. Yes, that's on my bucket list as well.
So basically, I need to head North, pronto.
But in the meantime, I loved making these nautical themed onesies.
Originally, this customer had fallen in love with my boy/girl gender reveal cookies.
Because the parents-to-be made the amazing decision not to find out what they're having...the orderer thought these would be especially cute to add into the mix.
I wanted them to look different from the bold colors on the onesies, so I went for a very pale pink and blue.
I had apprehension about doing the lobsters because they're so tiny and detailed.
Their success was based solely on the perfect icing consistency.
This whale design ended up being my absolute favorite.
It's based on the Vineyard Vines logo (which, I must confess, I had to google. Clearly fashion is not my top priority).
On a fun note, I was asked to make this unique little onesie. The customer's daughter had ordered an actual onesie just like this for the new baby and wanted a mini replica of it.
I feel like every post I say something like 'these were the most fun to make' or 'I had the best time making these', but the truth is I love how different each set of cookies ends up being.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to make nautical themed cookies, Liza!
