Just like any creative venture, cookies require some form of inspiration.
Whether it comes from an idea, a pattern, a magazine clipping, an invitation or even a piece of artwork, inspiration is a must.
The key is to look at something and pull inspiration from it instead of copying it directly.
I must admit, when my friend sent me this piece of artwork by Kelly Rightsell to pull inspiration from, I was initially a little stumped.
After staring at the picture for a while, I realized I was drawn to the animal faces and the dresses.
I thought the butterflies and flowers would be too generic. Because these cookies were for a baby shower, I knew I wanted something about them to incorporate baby-ness.
(I think I just made a new word?!)
So I went with the onesie cookie cutter and some simple elements from the picture and came up with these.
I thought the tutus added a fun touch of whimsy girliness.
I'm really happy with how they turned out!
Thanks again Ashley!
